Dear Friend,

Welcome to my website. I hope you are able to find useful information in here about my work in Parliament, and about the struggle to resist the way in which corporate values, and corporate power, are destroying what is best about Canada.

For many years, ever since I served on the House of Commons Committee that studied the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement in 1987-88, I have fought against the way in which such agreements (FTA, NAFTA, WTO, MAI,GATS ) threaten our democratic right to choose our own values and policies, and pressure us into adopting American ways of doing things. The Canadian way, the Canadian project, is, as Mel Hurtig says in his upcoming book, “vanishing”. What is not already bought or transformed, is actively up for sale, from energy to water to health care.

I look forward to your feedback on these and other issues that are highlighted on this website.

                        Sincerely,

                        Bill Blaikie, MP

                        NDP House Leader
